Problems with Gas Mileage, Increased wheel size and Headlamps
Hello,
So I just bought a 2007 AWD IS 250 with 151,000 miles on the dash. It's high mileage but VERY clean.
On a full tank, fuel range is 238mi. I'm really worried as it seems I'm getting about 14mpg. I have read of folks getting as high as 380mi. What do I do?
I just took out the stock 225/45/17 17x7 and replaced with 235/40/18 18x8 all round on aftermarket rims. It looks abit nice. But there seems to be a slight vibration. I also noticed the rims have wider hub than the factory hub pilot on my Lexus. I don't have hub rings, is this ok?
After I changed the wheel, I can literarily see the fuel drop down on the gauge. Does the bigger tires and wheels mean more fuel? Does it affect gear ratio? I don't wanna mess anything up.
Please I need help. I love the car

Hub centric rings will get rid of the vibrations and it properly centers the wheel on the hub so for a couple of bucks I don't see any reason not to get them. you'll need the inner bore of the wheel diameter to 66.1mm rings.
If the aftermarket wheels are larger, it's possible that it'll weigh more than the original set. If they are heavier, it'll increase the rotating mass of the wheels and require more energy from the car to rotate the wheel. As for the tires I'm not sure. Some of the introduced vibrations may be coming from having a lower profile tire as well

wider tires also will add to your drop in mpg as well due to more tire is contacting the ground = more friction...
