Default Brake booster and master cylinder

I have a friend who was told by a dealership his brake booster and master cylinder is not functioning at 100% and needs to be replaced along with a brake flush to the tune of $1900. Isn't it premature for the brake booster to go bad, especially in a 2011 IS250 with less than 60k miles?

Yes, very odd. Have him take the car to a reputable brake specialist. However, you live in a damp climate, so a brake flush should certainly be in order.

He actually dropped the car off at the dealership already. He went in for rotor and pad replacements and they hit him with this. It was halfway with him waiting for the service to be completed that they informed him of the issue. He's having them check his CPO status now actually. Thanks!

If the tires tend to slip when applying full brakes (ABS turns on) I wouldn't even consider replacing the booster. Unless the brake light comes on, you have secondary braking system that functions in case of emergency.

Your money, your call.
