That is a great news...

Keep the 10 grand you'll make out of it and buy another one!

Let us know what they cut you a check for on it. I'd replace with a similar vehicle and use the excessive funds to pay bills/CCs. Debt free FTW!

Are you taking that $25k? You might be able to squeeze them more by making an argument. Lol but see, that's much better than you had originally thought. Congrats

That is about $10K more than the fair market value of the vehicle, I would be very interested in knowing how they came to that figure.

If the FMV of your vehicle is $16K then typically the offer is the FMV minus your deductible. If you owe more on the car than that and have no GAP you are liable for the difference.

It happened to me just once, where the insurance payout was less than what was owed on the car and I didn't have GAP, left me in a hole for 3 months while I paid off the loan and another 6 months to save enough to buy a beater.

I have never bought without GAP since.

I hope you don't get a big surprise from the Insurance company and they actually do give you $25K, but I can't see it happening.

Some companies offer new car replacement that gives you the value of a car if it were the next year up. or next model year up. thats what they could be giving you. Alot of insurance companies are starting to offer that

Still awaiting the remaining payout balance. But my loan was paid off 2 days ago ($16,402).

I was kind of slow on getting the release form signed for my car at the repair shop. I've been busy with work.

That's great! Hope you'll have every pennies you can. Let us know!

At least you'll have a new car, which is a good thing. Driving a salvaged one isn't very interesting lol.

I picked up my check today. Now time to go car shopping. Just to show you guys I'm not trolling I attached a pic. I'm quite surprised myself that they came up with a ACV this high.
