Default Temp guage off set

Good Day,

I have n IS 250 2010 and since i bought i noticed that the temp gauge, when the car is cold is way up pass the "C" mark. the gauge is almost horizontal. When the car warms up and reaches operating temp the gauge is at 1/4 more or less. I change the temp sensor but nothing. What it he problem? how can I get the gauge to move back to the position that it needs to be. When engine cold should be at "C" and not way up pass the "C"

It is not your temperature sensor. I am suspecting the needle got removed and didn't get re-installed in the right position. Just remove the cluster and fix it yourself. You need to remove the needle and reposition it (it won't work if you just turn the needle). The needle should be slightly off the "C" mark and just slightly off the 1/2 mark in normal operating conditions.

It is a bit tricky but not very hard. Do a search on yow to remove the cluster? Then you need to remove the clear cover to get to the needle. The trick is not to move (rotate) the needle while pulling it off). It is required a firm pull straight up to get it off.
