From here....

Anyone know what that part is?

I tried looking at some part diagrams on www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com but it's not shown as a part..

Thanks toyoman! You are 100% correct!

Bought the seal at a local Toyota dealer and repaired within an hour.

I've replaced 2 before and it was really easy. You have to be carful not to scrape the shaft or aluminum housing or the new seal will leak and then you will need silicone.

So this is the parking brake seal? Why would this not be a permanent sealed portion of the trans case? Why would the parking brake in that location need to be accessed?

Good job on the DIY fix! Glad it was easy!

It's part of the gear selector, it moves when you move your shift ****, because of rust getting in there it damages the seal, put grease on yours if it inst leaking to prevent rust damage.

How do you get the old seal out? Pry it out with flat head?

^Though I'm sure there is a Toyota-specific tool for the job, you're best bet is using a curved pick while being careful not to touch trans housing or the part of the gear selector in the middle :

I remember using a pair of needle nose pliers, flat head screwdriver, and this:

Looks like I'll be ordering one of these today. While doing a trickle flush on my auto trans, I'm seeing a slightly leaky seal there.

Thanks for the P/N, as I'm sure my local Lexus parts lady has no clue on how to locate that seal's P/N. LOL!

Removed my leaky seal with the hook-looking pick from my previous picture above. It took yanking on it on three difference spots in order to get it to finally loosen up and pop out. Lubed up the outside and inside areas of the new seal in ATF and by hand pressed it into the trans case. To fully seat it, I used a 15mm socket against the seal surface and a flat pry bar against the back of the socket to leverage the seal in just a tad bit more. So far no leaks.
