Default Damn stealership

So my car was rearended a few months ago. I went to have it repaired and a couple other areas on the car. In doing so they installed the usual rear diffuser. But I had them do something I don't think anyone else has done, molded the diffuser in.

The dealership I took it to though broke my almost brand new carbon fiber hood. They must of tried to press it down with their palm to hard causing it to splinter and crack.

I really hope they come out and pay for it. The guy was trying to weasel out of it, he even pulled up pictures of it right before I let them work on it. You can see in the pictures that HE took there were no cracks and he was trying to say he can't tell. Like come on and just man up that one of your guys broke my hood...

Sorry to hear, but i thought carbon fiber was suppose to be stronger than steel? If so why did it crack so easily?

My guess with the correct force in the right spot it would crack. Carbon fiber will crack internally before cracking externally. So they probably pressed it really hard with their hands over and over instead of shutting it properly and it cracked.

So from what I was told today is they are going to try and repair it. they claimed it was the clear coat that cracked not the carbon itself. To me it sounds a little ridiculous because of how it cracked, seems to me its the carbon thats broken and not just the clear coat.... Not sure what to do about it

^Oh God, this will not end well. Sorry for your mis-fortune. I had something similar happen with one of my headlights. Chipped the top corner off. Pre-inspection pics showed the assemblies in perfect condition before the shop did their work. They purchased me a NEW stripped OEM headlight because of it.

They told me that if this doesn't make me happy they'll replace it. I really hope they just replace it.

good luck, I have something similar happen with my 300cSRT8, they damaged/cracked a custom hood and broke custom installed HALO headlights (oracle CCFL rings).

I was told to f-off they aren't responsible for any damage to aftermarket or modified OEM parts and it was clearly in the WO I signed.

it's not the clear that is cracked it is the resin, and they aren't going to be able to repair it correctly unless they have an expert in carbon fiber resin repair.

it's not like fiberglass, improper repair will result in air bubbles and pitting in the resin like so:

if it was me, I wouldn't let them get away with it. Look at their final results of repairs and if I'm not happy, i would make them pay for a new one. Also make sure they didn't break anything else or try to get back to you by anyway ( I know it sounds childish but you can't trust anyone) good luck
