Hey peeps!

Many of you may remember that I had my transmission oil changed in my 2010 IS 250 AWD at 100k miles and posted the reports here.

I use my IS as a work car and travel about 30k miles per year to see clients.

I bought her new in Aug 2010 and she now has 137k miles on her.

I have been religious about getting my oil changed between 5000-5500 miles (Lexus recommends every 5k) but decided to see what would happen if I went a little longer.

So, I went 6,500 miles. Here is the analysis!

I just completed my longest oil change interval on ANY car I've ever owned...12k miles. Definitely didn't want to wait that long; but I was waiting on my new house to close so I'd have a place to do it myself and have my tools again.

Thought about having the oil tested like you here; but I ended up just recycling it like normal.

The test is with regular oil? My dad does his own non-synthetic oil change on the Tacoma truck every 10K miles ... and it's still running fine without much issues with 180K miles.

With the IS's it isn't the oil that is the issue. From what I have learned it is the Toyota FILTER that isn't rated for the 10k+ Oil change intervals.

But yes. I get my oil changes done at the Lexus dealer with regular non-synthetic oil.
