High idle after installing new battery
Hello all,
I just changed my battery this morning and noticed the idle was higher than normal both at start up and after the car was warm. While in park, it was idling around 1200-1400rpm. After I drove and came to a stop it would idle between 800-900 while in drive, when it usually idles around 500-600.
Is this an issue with maybe the ecu resetting from disconnecting the battery and having to relearn the idle?
Any help is much appreciated!

Yes, your ECU has a collection of adaptation values to compensate both for sensor drift and to adapt to your driving style. When you disconnect the battery or remove the ECU fuse, those values are reset. Over time, you ECU will gradually re-learn them.

Yeah thats normal. I remember when i first disconnected the batter and thought i broke my car when the windows wouldnt roll up anymore
Anyway yeah just drive it around for like 15 miles or so and you'll be good. And also re teach your car how to automatically roll windows up and down too

has anyone try one of those "memory saver" jumper packs or 9 volt battery deals that you plug in to your cigarette lighter to save the memory on the ECU while removing the battery?
