Hello,

I have a problem with my second gear, as soon as I put it in and start releasing the clutch the gear pops out. Problems doesent always occur, but happens more with cold engine and when shifting down from upper gear. All other gears work fine, no noises etc.
I have even found a video with mazda having the exact same problem, but no solutions yet. I dont want to spend a grand on a new transmission.


Syncros it cant be because the gear goes in normally, but pops out when I release clutch, and then I have to put the gear in again.

Any help is welcome, Im goig crazy on this one.

It's most likely either a synchro or hub/sleeve issue regarding the keys/springs. Without opening up the transmission to inspect it, you can't really know with certainty.

Actually, it probably is the syncros. A competent transmission shop should be able to confirm.

A little update, took a 1 hour testdrive to identify the problem, It only occurs on downshifting to 2nd gear as I start releasing the clutch. It wont happen when speed is at 20km/h. Will take it to a mechanic soon.
