Default IS350 Low idle?

A few days ago, I was making a right turn and my car stalled. I turned it off and started it again and it worked perfectly fine. After work, I was driving home and I noticed on the local roads when I was going 25mph that if I took my foot off the gas, the idle would drop below 1k rpms. I took it to a shop and they told me my battery was bad. I replaced it and it seemed okay. Next day, I tried to drive the car but the idle was too low and the car was extremely sluggish and jerky. Checked it this morning, and it starts completely fine - idle stays at about 1.2k rpms but as soon as I tap the gas, the idle drops down to 500-800 rpms.

Any idea as to what the problem could be?

My 2011 Lexus IS350 when in "D" idles at 600rpms, when my car is in "P" the idle stays at about 1k-1200rpms

Try cleaning the MAF with some CRC Mass Air flow Cleaner. Usually a rough/weird idle, jerky, or car feeling sluggish are symptoms of a dirty or failing MAF sensor.

Sweet, I'll try this out. Thanks a lot!

I'll update this tomorrow after I try it.

Cleaned the MAF and the throttle bodybut it didn't make a difference.

Idles fine on start, but after I step on the gas, the car just drops in RPM. If I briefly tap the gas lightly enough it stalls the car.

It's currently at 66k miles - maybe spark plugs are going out? Any ideas?

Any check engine light or code? My car feel sluggish before found out it because of bad O2 sensor and MAF.

If bad spark plug that's might be the case too.

No check engine light at all so I'm not exactly sure where to start. :\

Also, I just passed smog right before this began happening so I'm fairly certain it's not the O2 sensor (I might be wrong though).

Not yet - will do that fairly soon.

I dropped the car off at the dealership this morning so we'll see what they say. Car stalled when I approached red lights as the idle dropped and shut the car off. I had to keep restarting the car to get it to go again. Also, after driving, there was an fuel odor around the car so it may be a leak somewhere :\

i would have the alternator tested. Sometimes they can be mistaken for working properly if they aren't properly load tested. Ive seen a few on camrys with the 2gr that show perfect output voltage but under load they drop below spec

I was about to say inspect the spark plugs; but looks like the dealership will soon tell you what's up. Fuel smell eh? Have you had the fuel sensor recall performed on this vehicle?

I had a similar problem with my 2011 350C today. Idle in drive went down to 450rpm (its usually around 700) Felt like car was going to cut off. started running really rough. Car has 35k miles. Its going into the shop tomorrow. Hopefully its nothing serious.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone

Turns out it was a combination of the spark plugs along with the throttle body getting stuck due to build up.

^That reminds me, I should double-check my TB butterfly for any build-up.

Does your motor seem to "eat" oil? Do you find myself adding oil in-between oil changes?

I'm overdue for new spark plugs. Dealer quoted me $650.00 all in. Screw that. Is your car a 250 or 350?
