07 IS250 - Oil Maintenance Req light

The oil maintenance reminder comes on briefly each time you start the car 4,500 miles after it was last reset, and comes on constantly after 5,000 miles. You can reset it yourself, instructions are in the FAQ thread sticked to the top of the forum.
There are many threads on our searchable forums about extending the oil change interval. Most who do so run synthetic oil. If you search for "Blackstone" you can even find some threads where people have run longer intervals and then sent a sample of their used oil for scientific analysis.

what kind of answer are you looking for? If you're asking how many more miles you can drive the car before it would stop running and make you change the oil, then the answer is there is no limit. The recommended oil change interval is 5,000 miles. The more you go over that many miles without changing the oil, the worst it is for the car. I say you can go over 500 miles without any concern.

My car just got the annoying oil maintenance light today. Basically it comes on 500 miles before your recommended interval of 5,000 miles. Some people go longer but it is recommended you do it ar 5,000. Also that oil light will stay on once you hit the 5,000 mile mark which is very very annoying.
You can perform a reset to turn off the light (in case you decide to Not change oil for whatever reason) but just remember to change it soon and not hold off to long. Especially if you drive it hard.
