Default AD2P support in later Lexus HU's swap bluetooth unit.

Hi All,

I was taking apart my radio unit to fix the non working screen on my IS-F, anyways, I came across the bluetooth unit from Denso, and started to wonder if it was really only the unit that needs to be updated to support AD2P?

Basically, would the bluetooth unit from a 2011+ give AD2P to a 2008 model? Thoughts?

More digging on the FCC number I found a slew of parts for toyota specific items made by denso.

Intresting to see what they have and when they were submitted. There's a Canbus Bluetooth ECU there. When I google the number it shows a bunch of Formula E cars...

This item seems to be the old Toyo BT HU

https://www.google.com/search?q=DNNS...IVx0uICh2ZjQxC

Also searching for BT AU01 instead of HYQBTAU01 shows up a **** load of BT receivers, which I guess is the same as what is used in the Cars.

Interesting. Replied to follow. 2006 350 owner here and would also like to see if swapping a unit would work for AD2P

I'm sure in 99.9% that replacing the Bluetooth unit would not give you ad2p support. How would the unit know you wanna stream the music via bluetooth? No extra menus would show up, that's for sure. If anything the unit itself would need to have the software flashed first.

Plus you could just get something like this and plug it into your aux jack:

Amazon.com: Etekcity NFC-Enabled Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver / Music Streaming Adapter for Car & Home Stereo Sound System: Electronics Amazon.com: Etekcity NFC-Enabled Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver / Music Streaming Adapter for Car & Home Stereo Sound System: Electronics

Most modern smart phones can do dual bluetooth streaming so it will be connected to the car and the receiver for music. It's what I use in my 350.

I realize there is something that can plug into AUX, but I'm sure they didn't redesign the whole HU just for AD2P in the case of the Denso BT antenna yet have a pioneer HU for the ML sound system.

I wish someone with a AD2p support HU would open up and check what unit they have in there.

Would make it easy to buy and then test that unit.

Alibaba has the unit i listed for like 20 bucks.

With this setup, while you'll still get the audio through, you lose the capability to control the phone from the steering wheel controls. You'll still need to advance to the next track by touching your phone.

Ok so i just realized i have a +2010 HDD nav sitting in my garage I'll open it up tomorrow (if i'll have time) and let you know what's what. Also +2010 navigation uses a separate 'multimedia' module that hooks up to the navigation unit.

I believe a lot of the added functionality is in the separate multimedia module added on the 2010+ models.

Haven't looked at it extensively though, since my car came with it, haha.
