Default 2007 IS250 AWD Front Left Wheel Bearing Repair

Hi everyone,

The front left Wheel Bearing on my 2007 IS250 (AWD) is making noise. I took it to my local mechanic and he mentioned that the hub/bearing need to be replaced, but it is in no rush. He told me that I can replace it in a couple of months.

My local mechanic quoted me about $650-$700. The dealership quoted me $272 for labour and $512 for parts, so a total of about $800.

I've browsed around the forums, and see some DIY threads. My friend who has taken care of his IS350 for almost a decade said he could help me change the wheelbearing.

Should I:

1. Buy the parts myself online and let my friend do it?
2. Buy the parts myself online and let my local mechanic do it?
3. Let my mechanic do it himself with his own parts?

I just don't want to pay an extremely marked up price for parts from my mechanic that I can get for cheaper online. Does anyone have suggestions on where I can buy the parts online that is moderately priced?

Thanks everyone!!

You trust this mech? Can you actually hear it? If you believe this is the culprit;

1) yes - help him out if you can't tackle the job yourself
2) no
3) hell naw

It's a pretty simple task to accomplish. I suggest Timken hubs but it's up to you and your budget. I've shopped at this website for years and have always been satisfied with them.

I replaced both rear hub/bearing (OEM) for my 2007 is350 2 days ago. In total I payed 900 for both of them. Hope that gives you an idea of cost/price.
