Don't worry too much about previous owner abusing them. I abuse the crap out of my car. I track it, I race it, I floor it and it's still going strong.

I'm really surprised no one has asked this yet. How many miles were on the car when the trans failed? From my understanding, Lexus doesn't rebuild their trans in house if you take it to a stealership anyway. They source a rebuild shop for one. I learned this after doing research on this "World Class" fluid we have in our trans. I asked both Lexus dealerships in town and they both said the same thing. Its a little late now but I would have asked where they take their transmissions. I hope for your sake they do a good job, no pun intended.

Looks like the clutches burned up from running low on fluid. Those are great pictures btw, thanks for posting those up!

I definitely see some heat damage probably due to low-fluid. So was that debris metal or rubber?

Yes, thanks for the photos! I've rebuilt many a Honda Civic manual trans, but never ANYTHING automatic. Those pics confirm my fears of them! LOL!

Not sure if you're trans rebuilder cares to venture a guess at this, but seeing he's well-versed in auto trans rebuilds and is probably has had his hands on MANY performance trans rebuilds, see if he cares to compare the internals/trans design of our IS350 to some other trans to see what power levels he believes the trans might be able to withhold over stock. Say for example, a single turbo on an IS350 pushing the power to 400whp/400ft lbs. Does he believe this trans with its factory components would be able to reliably hold up to the increase in power? If not, why? Is there anything he would mod on/inside this trans for a performance application? Mind you, we know the factory trans fluid cooler/heater is a joke.

Thanks!
