Hey CL,

Started from the ES300 section but went to a 2010 Accord after a accident, then after another accident with the Accord, I bought a 2007 IS250 AWD with 122,xxx. Now I know the mileage is high and the car is pretty old but I still love it and is enough to get me around the snow here.

Can anyone give me the basic lay down on what to check and what to do?
What kind of brand oil?
what kind of brand for transmission oil?
what to check?
I heard Carbon build up in the engine, how to prevent this? (Premium gas?)
etc, etc.

Should I get all my service done at a local Lexus Dealership?

Thanks!

Welcome! For me, I get all my services done at the Lexus dealership just for convenience and knowing that they will keep my car running in tip top shape.

Congrats, I remember your two old ES's. As for servicing, unless is something like brakes, I isually just bring it to the dealer as well because the difference in cost/time between me doing it or an independent shop is usually so small. Plus at my dealer they give you a loaner car and have a rewards point system that you can use as a discount towards the next car you buy from them. That being said, based off what I've read, oil as long as it's 5w-30 you're good, ATF people have had tested at 100k with no signs of wear, so it maybe doesn't need to be changed, and for carbon buildup, I've started using ethanol free gas as the ethanol is what causes the buildup in the first place, but we have a family friend with around 150k on his IS250 that he got new and only uses regular gas, and has had zero issues

I use mobil 1 5w-30 for my IS350
I'd check and make sure your spark plugs were changed with that much mileage.
I couldn't tell you what kind of tranny oil these cars use and to be honest that's something i would never do myself. I've heard that it has to be done by Lexus with some sort of a machine i could be wrong though.
There are many threads pertaining to carbon build up i would do a search to find out some more info if your that worried about it.

Other than oil changes and changing brake pads.. I usually get everything done at Lexus.
As mentioned above when it comes to time and the price difference between myself doing it or an independent shop.. I'd much rather let Lexus do it.. that way you know its done correctly (not to mention you get treated much better at a Lexus dealership)

Thanks for the advices guy! I will post some pictures up after I get it cleaned!

Also, my rims are very bad and is peeling off. Found this guy on my local Craigslist who happen to sell (4) OEM Lexus Rims that is painted Black no dents or dings for $250. Should I take them? Not sure if black car will look good on black rims.

definitely a decent price if there are no dings or scratches.. however no tires on them means theres a possibility of the paint gettin kicked during tire installation.. just sayin..

I would inquire about what type of paint he used.. I had stock rims for my 08 that were starting to crack and bubble from the cold harsh winters we have up here.. I plasti dipped them black good and thick and never had to worry about them again..

i'm guessing the wheels are all the same width? with an 07 is250 awd they should all be 8" wide if my memory is correct

Edit: I drove these rims during the winter.. I had 19's for the summer

Thanks for the information guys! Also, does the Lexus IS250 comes with stocked HID for Headlights AND Fog lights? I'm planning on buying HID for both if possible 4300K Headlights and 3000K for fog lights (DDM Tuning) and do I need to drill anything?

You'll need to drill a hole in the dust covers for your lowbeams.. my Xenondepot kit had a rubber grommet that sealed the headlight housing while allowing the wires to pass through

I'm a little confused. I got HID on right now for the headlights I'm assuming that's the stock bulb D4S? If I added a HID Kit H11 will the output be brighter? Also, I want to add HID Kit 3000K for the fog lights do I need to drill as well?

Hello fellow Awd fan! Please don't make the same mistake as me and get springs. Go straight to coil overs. Don't listen to the horror stories about the "vibrations" they are exaggerating, happy modding!

If you have HID's already then you'll have a D4S.

What is H11?!

No hole drilling for fog lights

H11 Halogen HID KIt? Would that be brighter than a D4S?

Tinted Windows
S2K AP2 Exhaust Tips or I might get a M2 on it.
eBay MyRide Replica Diffuser
eBay Wald Replica
Car Visors.
