I just converted my DRL halogens to LEDs.
Note: This will disable your brights.

What you will need:

The city lights make a pretty drastic difference.

Anyways, these are plug and play. I mounted the decoders using zip ties to the frame. If the city lights aren't working, reverse the polarity.

I have the LED DRLs in mine for over a year now with no problems. High beams still work..sort of. The light aims upwards a little enough to flash and even see better on dark roads, just not as good as OEM.

Question about the city lights, do they need decoders too?

No decoders for the city lights. It is a very simple plug and play.

Definitely need the decoders if you plug in the 9005 led cluster bare they will flicker like crazy. Decoder is essentially a capacitor and an inductor coil to store a charge and clean the power to it. Decoders ive delt with have been extremely bulky and impossible to stash in the headlight behind the gasket cover without spitting the decoder case and taping the bageez out of it. Granted when you do go into high beam they get slightly brighter but you generally lose your brights. Still have the projectors tilt up and give you some but still... IMO I prefer the white leds and no highbeams over yellow/gold runners. Getting the drls disabled at the dealership is tough, some are cool, some say its a safety issue and they are not allowed to do it. You could run an hid but you would need a relay that is sensitive to 6v to power on a dedicated fused 12v source, drill and seal the back cover to run wires and mount your ballast.....yeah, PITA but can be done!

Best upgrade for the DRL are 2011-2013 headlights... I know it's expensive, but if you are picky about the DRLs and can afford it, I think you will eventually end up getting a set.

I went through 3 different LED bulb set ups including that kit that VLedz used to sell... But was never happy with any of them. So just bit the bullet and bought the 2012 headlights even though I swore I would never spend that much for lighting. Anyhow... My search was over... And I have no regrets.

Its the secondary small bulb that sits in the higher part of the reflector in the highbeam, some call them courtesy lights as well. Can be replaced with a 168 style led
