Is it a good car?
So I just purchased a 2006 Lexus IS250 RWD. Long story short my 04 Lincoln LS was totaled and when I drove by this IS250 it was screaming my name. Once I test drove it I had to have it. I had lots of little stupid issues come up with the Lincoln then before it was totaled the transmission was on its way out anyway. I just want a nice, fun, pretty reliable vehicle that will last a good amount of years. Just started a little reading on this site and it looks like I need to do alot more lol. Which leads me to a couple of questions. Any tips or tricks feel free to let me know.
How can I find out the features this car has?
Is the 06 IS250 RWD a good car?
How reliable?
Easy to work on as far as DIY?

Welcome to CL and I see your from New England area too. Car is reliable but one major thing for 250 is carbon build up. Some get the issue and other don't. Do a search and you'll see the many threads on it. As far as DIY stuff it very simple and cheap to work on for basic stuff.

IS250 is a good car my wife has it for about 1 1/2 year with no issue and run great. Before she trade it in for ES350.
Have you test drive IS350?

Thanks guys. Yes I'm in New England. I wasn't so much worried about speed when looking for a car. Was a little disappointed actually after test driving the IS250. Was in a little bit of a rush to find a car and knew this was the one after 3 or 4 stops of looking at it lol. This would be the only lexus I have drove so I have not test drove the is350.

Nice screen name you have there! I have a 1990 300ZX twin turbo. As for the 250 vs 350 my vote is for the 350. You will have less issues as it has a dual injection system. It has both fuel injectors and direct injection. It's a more complicated system but proven to be bulletproof. The 250 on the other hand only has direct injection. The extra 100HP from the 350 makes it a much more fun car to drive. The 250 will leave you wanting more power. If in the future you want to upgrade but still like your car get a 350.
As for the reliability. Let me explain it this way: you will be getting another car in the top ten list with an IS vehicle. Your LS made the top ten list for mass produced unreliable vehicles. The difference is the IS is going to be in the top ten reliable vehicles to own. My brother in law has a Lincoln LS. I have a bad feeling I'm going to find my way under that hood sooner than later.

Welcome to CL. The Lexus will be much more reliable compared to the Lincoln. Overall it's a great car. Some people have had issues with various things but I think you'll really like it. Hers a link to read up on.
