Hey guys so long story short I bought a 2013 Certified pre owned is 250 with navi and the day after there was carbon build up and they said they had to rebuild the engine...I got my money back for the car and a few days later found a 2012 is250 with navi basically the same exact car or at least I thought and purchased it. I really liked the way the 2013 navigation was is there any way of putting a 2013 navigation into a 2012 is 250? Unfortunately during the test drive since the car looked identical I assumed it was the same and didn't mess with the navigation. I called my local dealership and the lady who I spoke with seemed pretty dimwitted saying it's a completely different car nothing is the same and there is no way of changing that. Seems kind of odd but figured you guys might know best.

I guess I have the generation 6 vehicle hardware and was wondering if I can put the generation 7 vehicle hardware into it?

believe 2013 and 2012 share SAME navi. what's the difference you noticed?

No, according to the Lexus website, the 2012 IS has gen 6 hardware, while the 2013 has gen 7.

I know the look of the menus are completely different. They also removed some buttons.

Thanks for the replies guys honestly it just seems like a cheaper version lol one feature I liked on the 13 was the screen was split in half with music on one side and map on the other while driving..the layout with everything is just nicer

Usually when there is a change in electronics things like electrical connections change. I wish I had an answer for you. What about finding one in the year you like? Search online and fly out of town if need be for the right car.
