Default Navigation Rear View Mirror!!

I have a 09 350 with no nav.

Wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the rear view mirror below.

http://www.germid.cn/product_view_28_229.html

I emailed them to ask if this would fit my car but no response yet.

Do you all think that would not fit? Obviously rather not blow $$ on something I won't be able to use

If there is a better product please let me know.

Seems like a pretty cool concept. However im not too sure how practical it would be. Its a pretty tiny screen and those who struggle to see or have vision issues would not be able to fully utilize this?

Looks like it's a computer itself... Don't think it will connect to your car so yes you'll mostly be able to install it.

Utility? Don't really know. Backup camera in rear view mirror = OK, but a GPS? I don't know. Seems small to me.

How much is it?

You could also install a factory console unit that has Nav. You can get the conversion done (parts + labor) for 1000$ I believe.

Is it touch screen? I can't imagine a ton of finger prints on my mirror! Or, having to constantly wipe 'em off...

I had one in Audi (different brand I think) and it sucked (wasted money). You are better off with Google Maps. I use it every time and dont even need to look at screen since all directions are acurate. Even in my other car with navi I still use Gmaps because of realtime traffic and ease of use

I agree that smartphone navigation is excellent, but prefer Waze over Google Maps. Waze tells you where red light cameras and police are. It evens gives you a heads up about some potholes. Also seems to be a bit better at anticipating and re-routing around traffic delays.

Don't have red light cameras here

This costs about $250 hence why I am trying this route rather than the factory console nav swap for $1K+.

The feature I have wanted the most is the backup camera capability. I believe you can mirror your android phone on here because I agree fingerprints on the rearview mirror would be annoying to have to clean the whole time. The smartphone navigation is a bonus.

Going to pull the trigger and see how this works.

if u just want the backup camera function, it can be a bit cheaper since all u need will be the rearview mirror with display plus a backup camera.

Either way, keep us posted with your progress =)
