2G IS350 - Best Bang for the Buck?
I've been doing some research about my next car once my BMW lease is up in a few months, and it seems pretty clear to me that an IS350 hits on all/most of my criteria. I understand that this is a Lexus forum and that there is a natural tendency for bias, but I was looking for opinions about the IS350 vs. any other alternatives to consider.
Here is my wish list:
Appreciate any thoughts
Here is my wish list:
- Under 50,000 miles
- Priced in the low-to-mid $20s
- 4-Doors (no hatchback)
- RELIABILITY (rules out non-warranted turbo BMWs)
- NO FWD (sorry Acura)
- 'Sporty' (sub 6.0s 0-60)
- 'Luxurious/Professional' (no Subaru WRX/EVO for me)
- Not a 'boat' (Genesis sedan OUT)
Appreciate any thoughts

Yep, IS350 meet yours criteria.
Every car has its pros and cons, but the IS350 does a really good job of being a luxurious sporty fun and reliable car.
Plus unlike BMW, most of the options are standard, such as push button start.
Where it lacks, is if you want to make it faster than what it is from factory. Then you're not going to get the same return on your money as say, a 335i.

Thanks, getafewliv.
I'm not really into modding. I do like a little 'growl' from the exhaust if that's at all possible, but probably wouldn't do much else.

As for getting sound from this car, the f sport intake or even just intake box will help give your car a nice growl above 3k rpm. And, depending on your budget and taste, a nice axle back exhaust or even resonator delete can help give your car a much more aggressive sound than stock.

Yes, the is350 meets your criteria, but if youu are going to have passengers in the back, you might want to check out the leg room. My IS350 is far better car than my TL was, but the TL did have a lot more backseat leg room. I personally don't care, as I don't sit in the back seat........ever!

I would agree that the IS350 fits the bill. Quick, sporty, and reliable. I have had mine new since Dec 2007 and it has not ever had one problem even after 16 track days. As other said if you want to modify it for more power you are out of luck. Coming from BMW the stock suspension may seem a bit soft but with 2-3K in suspension upgrades it can perform similar to a stock M3 just lacking in power. All in all a great all around car.
