Default Max tire size?

Whats the largest tire size you can fit on a is250 sport?

currently got

225/40/18x8
255/40/18x8.5

whats the largest I can go for size. Trying to find a brand that comes in both sizes.
heard of the 225/40/18 and 245/40/18 for the nexens but not interested in smaller. I much rather go larger.

235 and 265 maybe? or do I need a wider rim for that?

Car is mostly stock.

You would probably need a wider rim. Why do you want more rubber? Just want a fatter wheel?

No. All tire manufacturers have recommended rim widths for their tires, but 10mm wider on both ends isn't going to put you outside of spec for the vast majority of tires. I ran 245s on 8" wide wheels last summer.

^ Depends on the setup of the rest of the car (wheels, alignment, fender rolling etc). Problem is very few people are trying to fit the max width tire on a stock car with stock wheels. I would guess 255/35-18 on the front and 275/35-18 on the rear.
