Anyone ever notice that the hardware (bolts) used to fasten the doors to the hinges are not body colored (i.e. not painted).

The hardware that is used to attach the hinges to the body of the car are painted but the hardware that actually attaches the hinge to the door is gray (they look to be unpainted galvanized bolts).

I'm not saying its good, bad or indifferent, I just happened to notice it

I noticed this on the 2012 is250 and the 2011 RX350

Of course if you guys already knew this please ignore this post. If you never noticed this before and want to hire me as a Quality Control Officer I'm ready!!

i'll go look later, its too cold in the garage. but I have never noticed, so I'm assuming they are painted to match the car.

Had to see this for myself; and yes (even on the '06 model yr), they are indeed a galvanized silverfish steel color unpainted. However, the bolts holding the hinge to the chassis are color-matched. I'm sure there's a good reason; my only guess is they are less prone to rusting?

Anyways, never had to look at my door hinges before; so thanks for that. LOL!

I don't know why it happens to me but I guess its how my brain/eyes work, after test driving and opening the door my eyes went straight to it, luckily there was an RX350 on the lot so I looked at that one and felt more comfortable purchasing the car. Later that week I had a chance to look at an ES and it was that same way, so of course that made me feel even better but it sure is different.
