what i meant was do they replace not-broken parts on your car currently covered under warranty which will expire soon? i'm still running on the original water pump and my warranty is about to expire in May, so far no sign of it breaking down any time soon, should i inquire to have the dealer replace it while still under warranty? would dealers do that?

I've heard of dealers covering needed repairs shortly after the warranty expires as "good will", but I've never heard of one replacing perfectly good parts unless directed to do so as part of a recall, service campaign or TSB.

My extended warranty ended last Dec on my 08 IS350. Took it in for an oil change and asked them to go through the car as the warranty was ending. Magically the water pump started to "make noise" and they replaced it. Just be super cool with the service manager and you never know.

unfortunately they won't. they'll only fix or replace parts on the car that need repair. would be nice tho
