No love for Deep Sea Mica?
Hey everyone,
I joined the site a few weeks ago and I have been enjoying reading all the technical and build threads. Glad I found this site.
I purchased a 2011 is250 a month ago and love the car. It's deep sea mica. I was just wondering since I've searched a lot of threads to see builds with that specific color and was really hard pressed to find any. Just curious do people not particularly not like this color or was it that they didn't make to many 2nd gen is250 in this color? I really like the color as it has a different shade as you look at in the sunlight. I was wanting to get just get a few ideas on what color wheels people use and just wanted to see that color when its been customized.
Here is my car a week after I bought it. Its the AWD version. I plan to lower it in the spring but it will sit like this during the winter months

Dude honestly I think it's a really good color ! I seen it driving around in the city, I was like oh a dark blue that's cool. Can't help to like it because blue is my favorite color. Drop it to give it that nice look. Mine is drop on Swift spring, gonna go coil or roadmagnet soon.
As for wheel color. I say get Black. It'll blend in nicely with that dark blue color. for our car 19's is the best size wheels to look good on.

I do have some G35 rays in 19's and have seen several isXX50's with these wheels on it. I was going to get them powder coated black as I, along with you, think black looks good on the blue. I have already bought the sensors, acorn lug nuts and the centering hubs but just want to wait until the spring to put them on. I also plan on getting BCR coil overs vs. springs as i've read one side sits higher than the other and want it to be level when I lower it. I also plan to give it a 35% tint all around as I know its already pre tinted at the factory and don't want to go to dark.

Thanks guys for the pictures. Both look nice. I'm liking the black wheels on the DSM.
I know people always tell the noobs to do a search but I searched quite a bit before I posted this thread. When I did a search of DSM is250 it would usually show me either the 2014 DSM is250, a stock one or the GS thread where I believe this color was available on this model.

^ 370z wheels. I like it. Different.
Yeah the DSM looks really dark even in daylight unless you have the sun on it and then you can tell how nice the blue is. I read that Blue Onxy Pearl has a purplish tint to it when hit by direct sunlight.

It went blue onyx > black sapphire > deep sea mica
All are dark blues and are pretty rare.
When i bought a black sapphire in 2007 I read that ~2% of all lexus vehicles were made in that color. As far as I was told from a lexus salesman it was one of those colors very few people liked as it was a LOVE IT or HATE IT type of color. I remember him saying the customers usually just went with a car with black exterior if they wanted dark.
