No More Trunk Slam [Wald Spoiler Owners]
I have an 06 IS350 with Wald spoiler and every time someone closes my trunk, there's a loud boom follow by "oh ****" and "sorry" lol. Without a spoiler, the trunk closes smoothly. The OEM KYB shocks are old and probably worn out, so I looked on eBay and saw only one seller, mrlousstuff, selling trunk lift supports. As I found out later, they also have a website and can make custom shocks for those with a heavier trunk. I took a chance and bought it. I didn't want to get it from Sewell because I saw on the forums that they can go out in a couple of years.
Installed the new trunk shocks today and what a difference it made. About 80% up, the trunk will fully open automatically. Pulling the trunk down halfway won't slam it at all, so you have to push it down yourself. They are still new so time will tell how long this keeps up.
Installation took about 20 minutes. Tools I used were a flashlight, flathead, and a 12mm socket wrench.

The website lists them for $39.50 each but same price as eBay. That's where I purchased them.
For additional info, here's the actual site:

They list both hood and trunk shocks and can be easily differentiate which ones by length and pretty graphics.

If you install springs/coilovers before, then you should've spot the shocks in the rear when you took off the top panel.
This link will tell you exactly what I did. I forgot to use something to support the trunk when I took off the first shock and it hit me on the back haha
