Does anyone know what causes the sticky dash? From excessive heat to the point the dash melts?

Yep, that is pretty much the main cause. They used the material that is not too much heat resistant.

No, the local dealerships do not have the parts ready yet. I think they are waiting for Lexus corp to send parts and instruction before they can start doing it. They mention it is some times in the late summer or something. I'm still waiting for their updates.

The heat has returned to SC, and so has my sticky dash. Looking forward to a nice, new dash care of Lexus here soon!

At Sewell in Dallas they told me it'd be until August that they replace it. I also have some chunks around my ac vents missing. I hope they don't mind.

Then I waited for two months until I got another letter asking for more copies of the same documentation I'd originally sent in. This doesn't give me high hopes for a satisfactory outcome.
Much to my (pleasant) surprise, I opened up my mailbox today and inside there was a refund check for the full amount of the dash replacement!

You can call lexus Head quarter in California to run your Vin# if your car is on the list. Then bring your car to Lexus Dealer for inspecting. It took 15 minute. I'm the 3rd owner I live in Minnesota and bought my car from Texas.

Hey all...I have an 06 is350. My door panels seem to have smears and blemishes that can't be wiped or cleaned. my dash doesn't seem too bad except for a hairline crack(barely noticeable) and also a tiny chip by the passenger side. Just got the car about a month ago and tried cleaning, wiping with wipes and dash does seem a bit sticky. I believe I'm the third owner and I bought the car from a used lot with a warranty along with it but it's more of a third party type. Warranty Solutions is what it's called to be exact. I'm just wondering if I can get mine replaced before it gets worst. I've registered in Lexus Drivers already and didn't see anything done concerning the dash and door panels. Only saw a recall from October 2014 for ELF potential fuel pressure sensor leak as someone mentioned in page 10 of this thread. Any advice would help before I make a fool out of myself at the dealership when I bring it in to get that mentioned recall serviced.

Quick Reply: FINALLY our 2 gen IS dash and door panels will be replaced!!!!
