Default Who has changed their automatic transmission fluid on 250/350?

I know there are a bunch of threads on whether you should or shouldn't do it. So i'm not looking to restart that debate. I was just want to hear from those who have done it, what their experiences were. Any noticeable changes after? good or bad? where did you have it done and what was cost?

For a peace of mind, I changed mine at 93k miles on IS350 at Lexus dealership to make sure they use the right fluid and do it correctly. I'm not sure if it is just me but anything related to transmission or engine, I only bring it to dealer. I notice that the car shifts smoother and runs smoother.

A member analyzed his transmission oil (at 100k miles) in a professional lab and the result turns out to be excellent.

Also, you canNOT flush the whole transmission fluid because the system is sealed. Usually it is drain and fill. I advice you do this with the Lexus dealers and not somewhere else.

Both of my IS250 and IS350 have been pushed to the limit on autocross and tracks several times Went through several set of tires and about to replace all pads, rotors again lol. My IS350 currently have almost 95k miles and still runs butter smooth. I would change transmission fluid in your case.

Hmmm, I'm only at 75K miles, never tracked it or anything, just always drive it hard. Maybe i'll wait a bit. Gonna see what the dealer says.

I did the drain and fill at Lexus of Sacramento last week with my oil change. The two together came out to $220 and they brought my headlights up and centered for free. I thought I had them high enough after lowering the car but when they pulled it up to their headlight wall they were actually both really low still.

The service tech said the transmission fluid was getting dark but not to the point of needing a complete flush which they could have done there. The car feels smoother but honestly it wasn't running bad to begin with but still it's a noticeable difference for me. I simply did it ONLY because I'm at 159k, it hasn't been done by the original previous owner, and I drive 80 miles a day mon-fri.

More than anything... the piece of mind knowing the fluid is good is worth the money. But I didn't do it till recently at higher mileage.

Dealership at 70K for $115. I don't believe they got the level quite right. They originally quoted me to keep the car overnight to let the tranny cool down but I took their free rental. Lo and behold they completed it before the end of day (<1.5hrs). Transmission shifted a little rough until warmed up initially... seems fine now. I'll probably do it myself next time. It's basically the same as changing the fluid on a manual. The dealership just uses a computer to know when the transmission is at normal operating temp to check the level. I think they skipped the last step. Driving a vehicle normally for 10 miles is a good rule of thumb to bring it to normal operating temp if you do it yourself.

We have two Lexus dealerships here. One didn't recommend it and only does drain and fill for $115. The other does have the special machine and can do it for $400. Go figure

I will be changing mine at 100k miles along with a coolant flush. I will report back as soon as I get those done but I only have 70k miles as we speak on my 06 is350.
