[QUOTE=Jeff Lange;9597303]What material did you have the flywheel made out of? I have been considering doing something similar to remove the dual mass flywheel.
hi had it made out of an steel aluminium composite that a friend of mine use to make flywheels for race cars so I gave him an old flywheel and pressure plate and took him about a month to machine and balance using the ring gear of the old one it is not much lighter(maybe 200g) but at least I wont have an clutch shudder, but you can still use the same clutch plate with the old duel mass it will make it better on pull offs. What I found that the clutch system has an design flaw as the flywheel(dampening springs wear out on inside) dampens and absorbs as the clutch plate is essentially just a friction plate not absorption at all. By using the Camry's clutch plate both the flywheel and the clutch plate absorb and dampens.

I am currently using the dual mass flywheel with the Camry's sprung clutch disc, it works well however I believe it is a bit too dampened and so I am considering either getting rid of the sprung disc and going back to the unsprung 4GR disc or removing the dual mass flywheel and keeping the sprung disc. The only non-DM flywheel setups I am aware of are the Fidanza, SPEC and SARD. I'm not a fan of any of them to be honest (first 2 are aluminum and the SARD bolts onto the A/T flexplate).
So if I do want to remove the dual mass, it will be with a custom flywheel. I want it to be steel, ideally. Just not entirely sure what the best type of steel to use would be.

only problem with using steel is the weight of it the std duel mass flywheel weight in at about 17.3kg although a heavier flywheel will slightly improve torque but it will make the motor rev up substantially slower since you have the 2gr in I doubt it will be a problem

3gr-fse swap
I have just completed the 3gr-fse swap in my is 250 using the electronics from the 4gr-fse and it was a success, power is higher but I don't know how much, I will probably take it to a dyno when I put headers exhaust and intake

well done IS3350uk, i was thinking of also putting the 3grfse but i still want the 2grfse into my is250. how about this what would the power output of the 4gr and 3gr be if they had the d4-s like the 2grfse?

3gr-fse swap
I am not sure of the driverbility but I don't know what the outcome, take a chance and try it but not sure the 4gr-fse injectors are enough

3gr-fse swap
I used the 3grfse head and block and just transferred over the intake manifolds throttlebody etc, it runs normal like the original engine with no issues

Very nice. I expected that it *may* be able to control the 3GR-FSE properly when I was looking into it as well, as they use the same injectors and so on. My only concern was that the additional air would potentially go past what the ECU's limits were. Apparently not, good stuff.

3gr-fse swap
Mine is a 6 speed manual and the ecu and everything is factory stock and I love the extra power throughout the rev band, drives like a dream
