I didn't:$ it was 90% covered by some orange oxide. Although, it's been like that for the past year without any problem. This started AFTER I replaced the battery. I will try to talk to Canadian Tire, after the dealership replaces the alternator. However, I think they might deny my claim since the battery is practically new.

Well, the reason they probably wont trickle charge it for you is they 1. might not have one 2. make more money from you buying a battery 3. its too much trouble.
Honestly, I'd say just return it and swap for a new one. Same difference.
Its also possible is that the corrosion and the subsequent killing of your battery is also how your alternator died.

Op your title is stupid.
You have a bad alternator, connection or a fault draining your battery.
After 8 years a battery owes you nothing.
If you're making a lot of short trips, blasting music with your heated seats on; the car will have a tough time keeping the battery charged.

Nevertheless, it would need to be jumped sometimes if the trip taken was too short.

I thought they were reliable to.In 3 years battery died, headlights out, piston rebuild for rattle, rear boot went, navi frozen replaced, water pump went, radiator went, rear calipers frozen and now getting code for camshaft sensor bank B. Car is very well maintained as well. Sorry for hi-jacking post .

Reliability is a term used in aggregate to describe the overall group performance. Everything has a probability function so there is no perfect information in the real world and according to all the reports, Lexus is reliable. There will always be cars that fall below or above. Btw did you buy the car used?

Monday Night Update: Car was towed to dealer on Saturday, as normal service charged one hour labour to diagnose the problem. But as of now they still haven't gotta a chance to touch the car yet...
I thought all they have to do is just use a voltmeter to test the alternator/battery..Should have gotten it towed to a moms & pa garage..

Thanks guys! Just got the car back from Lexus.
I would totally get an independent garage to do work on my car, but there is no lexus specialist around my area, except for the lexus dealership. The dealership is excellent in my opinion, and they charge a very fair "dealership price". Maybe when i finish school and move to a bigger city like Toronto, then I will find one.
Total damage is $700. I though Christmas is still a month away.
