Rare. Just bursting onto the scene, you won’t find many cars quite like Stew Smith’s Lexus IS350. In fact, you wont find any. Stew’s Lexus is one of 3 Rotrex supercharged IS350s in the whole world. How does he know? Because his machinist pioneered the modifications needed to take 1 of 6 LMS supercharger kits and slap on the more reliable Rotrex c38. His setup put down 100whp over stock despite 12 injectors (6 direct injectors and 6 port injectors), 12:1 compression, and an uncrackable ECU. Its no wonder why only about 10 people have successfully boosted the 2nd Generation Lexus IS.
“Justin Walls out at ***** to the Walls Hardcore Fabrication in Grove City, OH has been extremely instrumental to the build, “ Stew said. “He’s taken many random days of his time to modify and machine countless custom bits, either from scratch or through modification of an existing aftermarket part.”
One of 3, That’s it? Not quite: to separate himself from that crowd, Stew decided to add air suspension, powered by Airlift Autopilot V2, and is running some of the most aggressive stock body wheel specs ever seen on an IS250 or IS350.
In order to accomplish that, he worked with Forgeline Motorsports to procure a fresh set of GA3 wheels. Stew commented, “Dave Schardt, the owner over at Forgeline is the coolest dude on the planet. He personally measured out my wheel specs, and didn’t bat an eyelid when I asked him to make those 40-50mm more aggressive than what he had dialed up. I’ll never forget when every employee of the family owned and operated business was standing around watching my car come down off of the lift. Their eyes were wide, strained on the stretched tires and 8 degrees of negative camber. I think they were betting on if I’d get home in one piece!”
You’d think that the story would end there, but it doesn’t. The things that Stew is most proud of about the car are just icing on the cake. This 1 of 1 Lexus IS350 is Stew’s daily driver, and he does 90% of the work on it himself, at home in his garage, with no prior automotive experience.
