What would you do?
Hello friends. On Friday I am making a 1500 mile road trip to San Antonio and I am really torn. I'm going to be there for 4 months and really would like to keep my Ordens on my car and not put my stock wheels back on.
First question: Am I stupid for driving that far on slightly stretched low profile tires? Has anyone else made a long trip like that with their wheels?
Second question: Has anyone been anywhere on this route lately? If the roads are decent I wouldn't feel so worried about it. I heard I10 is ver scenic LOL

How stretched are the tires? Me and my girlfriend drove from Houston to Cali a few years ago on aftermarket wheels, hers being HRE's. If theyre polished lips, theyre easy enough to repolish if something happens.
Personally i would just drive on them. You bought the wheels for them to be on the car, so enjoy them
If youre super concerned, just tape up the lips for the roadtrip (as well as the car!)

They really aren't that stretched....the pic above is the best I have right now lol I'll try to get another one.
Definitely planning on taping up the front.....it may be silly because I have above normal rock chip damage already but if like to prevent further damage lol. I didn't even think about taping the lips....that a great idea!

Well since my pcs to tyndall I've driven on I10 some bit. I would put stocks back on personally. I haven't gone past New Orleans so I can't speak for anything further west. I wouldn't risk it. Good luck in your new career field

You're on air so you ride should be comfy. I never drove that far or even to So Cal because of my camber and how low it was static. You have to ask yourself, is it worth it to have my sick looking wheels? Why do I even have wheels anyway if I'm not going to drive that far on them (you fill in the mileage), what could possibly happen, after all if have good performance tires on them? Just some things to think about. Just drive 4x4 till you get there and then dump it!

Though it has been since 2003 when I travelled I-10 cross-country, I can tell you that you do have to be very mindful of the potholes and such in the MS/LA/AL areas in general. From my experience, I experienced the worst conditions through there. Of course, that was 10+ yrs ago.
If you are at all worried about "your preciouses", I'd swap on the stockers for now.
By the way, if you are looking at rolling through Spartanburg/Greenville, SC via I-85, be aware they are re-doing the freeway. So it would be highly recommended to tape up the front to avoid rocks/debris. If you're in my area and need any emergency vehicle assistance in any way, just holla.
