Default Looking for touch up paint for starfire pearl

Looking for suggestions on the best matching touchup paint for Starfire Pearl (code 077). I have a 3/4 inch long 1/16 inch wide scratch on my rear bumper that I am trying to repair. It's right in the middle so I am looking for something that will be as close as possible. I've read that the OEM touch up does not quite match. I thought about trying a kit from paintscratch.com but they are $50. Any recommendations? I'll probably tape off the scratch when I paint it and wet sand between coats.

Thanks but it won't match.

From their website:

"This is a tri-coat pearl / 3-stage color, meaning it was painted with a base coat, pearl coat and tinted clear coat. There is not a single color formula that exactly matches. However, the paint you receive should allow for a very close color match and yield far better results than using regular touch-up paint. Please check the box to acknowledge this.

I understand"

You won't find anything better.

Dr. Color Chip is much better than a paint pen.

I bought an oem paint pen from a lexus dealership. Color doesn't match at all. Although GFM is super difficult to match 100%...

Did you buy both the base coat and the mid coat? The OEM Starfire Pearl has two pens and they are sold separately. I've read other comments that it does not match well.

EDIT: Just noticed you have Glacier Frost Mica... That one seems like it would be real difficult. I like that color but I avoided it for that reason... Turns out Starfire Pearl is fairly difficult as well.

+1 on Dr. ColorChip. I've used it on my front bumper and although it's not a 100% color match, it's the best wallet-friendly alternative to having your car professionally painted for minor nicks and scratches. My car is SFP, as well.

I saw the 077 on Sewell - based on what I read here I need both the bad and mid? And I assume I apply the base first, let it dry, then apply the mid?

I am looking to fix a paint chip about the size of a dime BTW.

Also, is Sewell as good as the aforementioned site? I would think they would carry the "official" lexus paint touch up but not sure how that works. thanks

SFP will never match unless you get the paint specially made for you and even then it's difficult to make. White/Red's change colour over time and off the shelf pens aren't a 100% pen.

Another +1 for DrColorChip. It is the best to fix rockchips.

It is very difficult if not impossible to match white pearl. Even professional painting might not match 100% lol.

Has anyone used the paint Sewell sells? I am trying to determine if the 12 dollar stuff is better than the 50 dollar stuff. And if you can really tell a difference

I also have SFP and a ton of rock chips that need touching up. Just wondering if there have been any better results/products anyone would recommend since 2014. I'm new here, so I'm not really sure how to do this but I searched the forum for 077 touch up paint and only found this really old thread. :-) TIA for any help.

Instead of looking at a paint repair, can this damage be rubbed out with rubbing compound? Any pics of the damage? Is the damage clearly THROUGH the paint?

I suspect compounding would improve some of it, and I’m def researching that have done it once before in a boat so I’m brand new but going to give it a shot after A LOT of research, so any tips on that are welcome. But many are through the paint and these are only shots of the front bumper. (The last is just a general shot of the car, for reference lol.)

Most of that is down to the plastic, or nearly at it so I don't think compounding would help here much. Touchup paint doesn't always make it look better as well. My starfire pearl RX350's touchup paint from the dealer doesn't exactly match it and has more of a cream appearance than anything. Best bet is to have it repainted, but you run the risk of it not matching.
