IS250 left me stranded with no electrical power at all
Had an odd experience this weekend with my IS. Ran some normal errands and was on my last stop. Came out to the car and touched the door handle to unlock. It unlocked and I got in and within 5 sec, I reached for the start button and nothing happened. Nada....no power at all. Checked the dome lights, my headlights...nothing, and yet my doors unlocked 5 sec ago. Went out checked my terminals and a few fuses...looked good. Ultimately called a tow truck and the guy came out with his battery charger to jump it. Nothing again. His charger read 12.5v. Had it towed to my mechanic.
I got word from my mechanic today that it was a dead battery. He swapped it with a new battery and it started right up. Is anyone able to explain to me how the tow truck guy tried a jump and it did nothing while swapping out the battery worked like a charm? I could understand it the tow guy hooked up the battery to his charger and I got a weak current through...but it was totally dead.

It is possible the dead battery was causing a short or something, which could interfere with a jump. I had a battery go bad while driving about a year and a half ago. Hit my blinker to change lanes cruising on the highway, dash lights went out and the needles dropped, headlights flashed off, radio stopped, but the car kept driving. Drove another 2 hours home. As soon as I shut the car off, it was completely dead. No lights, no locks, nothing.
Basically, bad batteries can cause all sorts of strange problems. It's a hassle when they go with no warning like that though.

yeah dead batteries def cause all sorts of strange problems to say the least. last friday I moved my spouses Sonata and yesterday I went to pop the trunk with the key fob and it didn't move. Got the other key fob thinking it was the battery in the fob... nothing. opened the door which was already unlocked int he garage and no lights, no door open signal, no power seats... I pushed the trunk release... Nothing. Just for the heck of it i pushed the gas tank door release... it clicked but would not open.
Pulled the battery got it tested... 8volts... 2 days prior not a single issue. all doors were shut and nothing was left on in between those events. Tossed in the new battery and its all good. Guess it would suck to have a dead battery and need gas in our Sonata.
