Faulty Stereo?
Disclaimer: Searched high and low on here for people with the same issue but to no avail.
Issue: My stereo keeps turning off on its own, switching to AM or FM, or ejecting CDs. One day it just shut off and remained off for 3 days. It started working again. Well today on my drive from Savannah to Orlando, the stereo went nuts. It kept turning on and off very rapidly for about 30 minutes. Then it shut off for good and didn't respond to the power button being pressed.
what's going on? ghosts? and I don't want simple answers like "check the fuse" something else must be at play here. If it were the fuse it wouldnt work at all.
Lastly, would a viable solution be, purchase the single din and buy an aftermarket CD player?
Thank you for your time.
edit: I also love playing music while I drive. it sucks driving without this so i'd like to correct this as soon as possible.

The audio portion of the center console unit is actually fairly cheap to find used. $100-200. But it's the issue that we still don't know if that would fix the issue. It could also be related to the amp in the trunk. I've read about those going out in a # of members rides.
Do you know if your center console unit has been removed ever? I have read of one case where someone's plug was actually loose and not completely plugged in causing all sorts of issues.

I don't think so, i've had the car since 2011 and it only just now started happening. so the amp controls the power to the unit? and not the speakers? because the speakers are fine I just wish i knew why it would turn on and off and switch modes on its on

I have the same problem! but much minor than yours. My is250 will ocassionally "eject all" the cds. Sometimes the buttons on my radio will not work, and i will have to use the steering wheel controls.
It has never turned off on me though, or spazzed out.
Im intersted in knowing what your fix/change/plans are!

I have the same problem. It started with just ejecting all the CD's. Then it started randomly turning the audio off. Now it turned off everything. The Nav the radio the climate control. Very annoying. By the way mine is Mark Levinison.

okay, glad to know i'm not the only one. this may be a bigger issue than i originally thought.
as stated by Gville, it may be seated loosely, because today i just pressed on the "Lexus" script to push that piece in, if i had come lose and voila... my radio started working again. perhaps vibrations from driving cause it to come loose every now and then????

I notice that when I push on the dash near the volume ****, that is when it usually started ejecting CDs
