Are OEM components necessary for my DIY?
Hey all,
I'm planning to dive into DIY and change my air filter, cabin filter, and spark plugs myself. Just wondering, how crucial is it to purchase OEM components for these items? I've been searching around on eBay and some of the items there are significantly cheaper than what's sold at the dealership or a third party vendor (ex. Sewell Lexus).
Also, is there a good air filter change tutorial on Club Lexus? I found the tutorial for changing the cabin filter but wasn't able to find a DIY For the air filter.
Thanks in advance!

it is important to get the proper spark plugs if you have a 350. They are not the same as the 250. Can't recall the reason but it had something to do with the extra set of port injectors in the 350 engine or somesuch.
cabin and engine filter you don't need to get OEM but it might be a bit cheaper to get a washable drop in engine filter rather than paper. But don't get any that use oil.
ok forget what I just said, always listen to Jeff
