Default CV Axle

Hello,

I drive a 2008 Lexus is 250 awd with about 140K miles. There is a loud clicking/popping noise coming from the rear driverside wheel. I took it to Lexus initially and they said it is from a rusted rotor and quoted me about $600. My father in law ended up replacing the rotors which I got on RockAuto for only about $75. The noise came back and I took it into Lexus again. This time, they said it was a loose pin for the parking break, which they fixed. The noise of course came back and now they are saying it is a faulty cv joint axle and quoted me $1.4K. I ended up ordering a new axle on RockAuto, which I know is not OEM. I just finished paying off the car and would love not to pour thousands to maintain it, since I just ended up getting the water pump replaced. Would anyone be able to give me directions on replacing the axle or point me in the direction of the existing thread?

Thank you in advance

For that kind of mileage with a bad environment, all of that can happen. I'm at 124k and I replaced parking brake due to rust and grinding noise, front axles, also rare rotors due to the seized caliper messed up my rotor. I would recommend going for OEM rotors, I had Centric rotors once and they warped in one year...

OEM parts are not that expensive, if you don't want to do the job yourself, you can buy the parts online and bring them to any independent shops cost less than half what Lexus charges.
