Default Power steering failure

I don't post much on this forum as my forum days are mostly over, but this is just worth mentioning. I know that the ISX50 is plagued with the electric power steering and a few members here have had to deal with it. Well, this is just another story to add to it. I purchased a 2007 IS350 about a month ago through Carmax and the power steering gave up about 2 weeks ago. The P/S light came on and it's been intermittent manual steering which is triggered by low speed steering. Since Carmax has a 30 day complete coverage warranty and I brought it in before the deadline, they brought it to Lexus and paid to have the electric power steering assembly replaced. I just got the car back 2 days ago and the p/s is out again. What do you think this is? It's obviously not the power steering assembly, unless Lexus lied and didn't replace it. Or maybe the ECU that controls the p/s is defective?

I've heard that 3 attempted times to fix the same problem would put the lemon law into effect. Is this true. I'm in AZ. Any one with experience in this, please help a brother out. I had big plans for this car, and now I'm contemplating whether or not to keep it. And to think I got rid of my 2006 IS350 to hopefully trade up to the 2007. Ugh.

Well, have you taken it back to CarMax again? They're obligated to fix it under their warranty. Do they provide loaners though?

I'm taking it back this weekend. And yes, they do provide a loaner just like they did last time. I bet they're trying to get this resolved quickly as well since everything is coming out of their pocket. Now if the fix is expensive, say over 10k, can they as a dealer just say pick out a new car?

^The fix won't be that expensive. LOL!

It'll probably end up being some loose ground wire or something weird. It'll just take time to figure it all out I guess.

GL!

I believe the lemon law applies to new cars, not used car.

I remember there is a lemon law in effect for used cars as well. I may be wrong, but Carmax is footing the bill anyways! I'm thinking it's the ECU that controls the power steering.

disconnect your p/s ecu and reconnect...this is what the Lexus tech guy did to my car and it's been working for over 3 months now without any problems...

Well, I dropped the car off at the Carmax dealer and they brought it to Lexus already. I did let them know that I suspect it's the p/s ecu and they said they'd look into it. Carmax is going to crack some heads since they're not happy that they paid over 2 grand to still have it malfunctioning, so they're cracking the whip now at Lexus.
