Default How to deal with door dings?

I just found out when I arrived to work that my car had received a fresh door ding overnight.
There were red paint all over it and as I recall, I park next to a red Solara at home.
I wonder how much force the owner / passenger put to cause this much damage because we are divide by a huge pillar in the middle..
How do you guys deal with this? I live in an apartment complex so I don't know who the owner of the vehicle is..
Just a small morning rant.. Sigh..

I would do the following:
- park in a corner spot away from everyone whenever I can
- park away from cars that are beat up or rusted
- park away from minivans and coupes (with really long doors)
- park in a spot where the other car's driver door is not next to your car
- park closer to the car that looks they take care of their cars

If the above isn't available to you, I would just get the door fixed every year or two.

The easy answer, without trying to be a smartazz, is to not get them. I always try to park so someone cannot hit either of our cars. In your case, can you park over a bit without getting into the other side's space? Or at an angle? There are protective pads you can get which clip on and off the car and protect.
Now, the solution after you have a ding is to have it repaired, which probably means the whole panel, up to a body crease. And that may show, depending on how good the repair shop is. No real easy answer!

Problem is living in an apartment. Wait until you have a 4 car garage, then you will worry about all your cars getting dings when going to the supermarket so you buy a beater.

Looks pretty bad.

I would park in corner/single spots but in my apartment, you have a designated spot so I cannot change where I park. I parked closer to the pillar to avoid the car next to me but I guess that meant closer to the red vehicle.
Any good shop to fix this in SoCal?

When 80% of my car got keyed I took it to http://www.kraemercollision.com/. I can not even tell a difference between the original panels and the repainted panels under sunlight or artificial light.

Some people just don't care, its ridiculous. I had my is for nearly 3 days and some lady at the grocery store was putting bottles in her cart to return them, I was sitting in my car and for whatever reason her cart just came bashing into my car... I got out pretty sure my passenger door was destroyed but it didn't do any damage luckily. But these people tho... :/
