Default So I took my car in for a smog check and......

Found out my car weights 4,000 lbs. That is just the car. My car is basically stock with intake and exhaust. I did however had a full tank of gas but @ 4,000lbs..... makes me wonder if I can shave off 1,000 lbs....how much quicker would I be at the 1/4 mile?

Edit: Here is the test result and for some reason, its flipped?

I highly doubt 1000lbs can be take off. You wouldn't fly, let's just put it that way.

Yes I pass. I pass without my secondary cats too. Thats because the mechanic didn't even look underneath the car. He saw my primary cats and probably assume that was it.

Your IS350 weighs 4,000 pounds!? Mine weighed in at 3580 and that's with two subs, a trunk full of stuff, and half a tank of gas.

Yeah, sounds like something is not calibrated correctly. One gallon of gas is only 6lbs.

Your car doesn't weigh 4,000lbs. They typed in 4000 cuz it was easy and it sounded like a good number to the guy who filled out the form. They also put that your car has a single exhaust when clearly there is more than one pipe coming out the rear of the car.

Was the guy doing the smog check 400lbs and sitting in the car when he weighed it?

^^lol. I don't think a 400lb person will even fit in the driver side seat. I'll go back and talk to him sometime later to see if I can have a retest on the curb weight of the car.

He rounded it off, obviously he was too lazy to see your 2ndary cats so ya..

Your car should be around the 3600lbs area. As for reducing 1000lbs, good luck! maybe we will see you fly!? LOL
