PLEASE HELP - Did I get taken by the dealer

I think that's a pretty decent deal, but it's hard to say because a trade-in was involved. They can discount the price of the Lexus and then decrease the value of your trade and still make money.
Regarding the rear view mirror compass, are you sure it isn't just turned off? Does your mirror have an "N" button on it with arrows? Push it and the compass appears

That's a GREAT deal on that car. I have a 2011 I purchased with the same options and I paid $500 more than you did but my car had 22k on the odo.
They changed the style of the mirror. My mirror also does not have a compass in it. My 2008 IS250 did. There's a compass on the nav.

Overall, deal doesn't sound bad by any means. I don't think the warranty will end up being necessary but you're buying it for peace of mind.

-Ignition module went bad (2 day repair +$50 deductible)
-Adaptive light module went bad (1 day repair + $50 deductible )
- Some engine seal cracked (4 day repair + $50 deductible)
- ECU went bad (3 day repair $50 deductibler)
-Navigation went out (Not covered by warranty)
Without the warranty, that would have been over $5,000 in repairs!
The warranty expired January of this year (105k miles on car). Last month, I got hit with $2,500 worth of repairs (electrical issues), plus another $500 for the tensioner. Then this month the car started having intermittent engine problems (end of life for engine coils) and rear brake service was coming due. The cost to replace the coils would have been $3300 plus another $850 for the brake service. I wasn't willing to sink another $4000 into the car, so I traded it in. After what the BMW put me through, I was terrified to take the chance of being in a car with no warranty.
I was going to get a '13 BMW, but they reduced warranty coverage to 6yr/75k miles! I decided I didn't want to deal with the unreliability anymore.
The Lexus was covered by the 4yr/50k warranty... I extended it to 6/100 for the peace of mind.
The steering on the IS350 is numbing compared to the BMW, but the acceleration is out of this world compared to my old car. I put the car in PWR mode yesterday for a few minutes , WOW! I won't be taking this car back.

The deal it's ok, I can;t tell if you got screwed on the trade but if you were happy with what you got, that's all it matters. What i'll have done differently is not purchase the warranty. You throw the money on the window there( you could have paid the taxes with them) or if you really wanted to get one for those money you could get Lexus Platinum which is much better.
Paying $36k for that car I would have sell the BMW privetly, you could get few thousands more and get a 3IS 350 with 10k miles for $41k or so. Better value and better car for only few $$$ more

one of the mods people do to increase steering feel is to change the steering ECU to a 2011+ ISF one. Then you have to get a techstream tech to calibrate it and its good to go
Probably wont have a real problem with the 350. My 06 had 57k miles on it, only thing I did was do oil changes. Its been out of powertrain warranty for a couple years now and no issues at all
