You got 3 to 4 more of these to pick from in your area from 12 to 15 k that are factory paint. Some have more history detail available. I wouldn't let the plastidip draw you into it... if you like that look you can do it on another car that you were actually able to verify history on. Lexus makes a great product and some will argue that history isn't that big of a deal... but why pick up someone's issues or lack of maintenance when you don't have to.
I would explore other options and look at the others that show in your area. Trust your gut when you are meeting these people. Play dumb and ask questions you already have the answers to in the stickies here about known issues and recalls. Run the VIN through the Lexus owners site. You have a lot of tools that you can use when buying a Lexus. Just don't let the "unique" appearance be the thing driving your decision cause it's not expensive to plastidip anything you buy.

I've seen plastidip last a couple years. It is very durable and will last a longtime if applied right.
You can search dipyourcar on youtube....they have TONS of videos with a lot of information and they show different colors too.

This car has been for sale for quite a while I talked to the guy about it last fall when I was looking for my car. As you said he doesnt seem to know much the modifications on the car and I think he did most of them on his own so Id be skeptical of that. Price is pretty decent since AWD models are at a premium here in Colorado. If you dont do a lot of mountain driving I would suggest a 350, I get around fine in town with snow tires and the is no comparison between the performance and features 350's have that most 250's dont (ie mark levinson ect) for the same price, bought my 06 350 for 16500 with 95K on it.
