Default is revving an Is350 to 6.5k rpm bad?

Is it bad to floor it to redline? Does it upshift on its own in sportsmod, if i don't upshift on paddle shifters. If I was too upshift would I need to upshift around 5k rpm because theres a 1.5 second lag between shifts.

I am just kidding. The paddle shifters are utterly useless you need to downshift quickly to accelerate fast because the ecu is bad at predicting that. It is perfectly fine to redline as long as the engine is properly warmed up. You can hold the car at a high rpm if you wanted to for whatever reason.

every car is equipped with a rev-limiter so you can rev as high as the car will allow you safely. If the car allows you to go above 7-8k, than there is something very wrong

I have gone though a dozen or so track days in my IS350 keeping it at or near the redline. Probably 1200 track miles or so. Still purrs like a kitten and have not had one issue at all with the car. The are made well and can take a beating.

My car daily sees redline; helps keep the cats cleared out.
