The rough guideline is if the water got to the bottom of the dashboard it's totaled. It sounds like your IS is toast. Call the insurance company and hope for the best. The fact that your car was lowered is the least of your problems. Man up.

Check to see if your oil I contaminated, it should be a milky color if it is.



I've had this happen to my old integra, sucked in water from
My cold air intake, luckily I didn't crack the block and hydro lock, it just took 6-7 oil changes to flush it out

Well good news I took the spark plugs out and cranked the engine which made water shoot out of the spark plug holes. Then i took the intake manifold out and dried it, it was soaked. After that I sprayed wd40 in the spark plug hole and put in new spark plugs. Put the stock intake back on and and tried to start the car. In the second try it fired up and sounds perfect nothing out of the ordinary. Check the oil and it has a milky color so will be giving the is350 couple oil change tomorrow. I do have the check engine light on so will be taking it to the dealer to see if everything is okay.

It was hydrolocked alright but you're lucky that the damage just stopped there, no cracked pistons or bent arms or engine blow-up! If you try to compress water in the chamber, something's got to give up and it's usually the engine. I learned that from my mechanic when that happened to my 300ZX back in the days.

even if the car is lowered, did you run your car into a lake? the IS has a lower intake resonator with a ram air section and an upper ram air section for air behind the upper grill. It would take a good height of water to really hydrolock the engine.

Anyway good luck with the engine. Just remember salt water means your engine is potientially done, Fresh water you engine can maybe be saved. Your o2 sensors may be shot from deep water (assuming your car got consumed with water in the exhaust as well.) so once you the engine at least running, swap out those O2 sensors asap

My car was really low and the water went through the fsport box since the ram air was dry. Water definitely got into the exhaust we had the front of the car raised and water kept pouring for a good 7 hours. I'm petty sure the o2 sensors are gone. Is there anything else I should check.

definitely check if any water got mixed in with any other fluids like your brake fluid, antifreeze, or any other fluid easily available. I would drain everything pull the plugs and let it sit for a while and then try to crank all the water you can out. You want everything absolutely dry before you put fluid back in. It maybe too much for you to do but pull the pan too as some water can seep into some chambers and use compressed air to get everything out

Well guys I changed the oil and left it running for a little bit and the check engine light has cleared. So hopefully everything is okay going to drive it a little more and give it another oil change then I'll take it to the dealer to see of everything is okay and get other oil change just to make sure all the water is gone.

If it were me, I would call my insurance company just in case. You could have potential problems come up down the road. I understand why you're hesitant, though.

I already call my insurance and told them what happen and that the car started but am not sure of the problems that could be laying ahead for my car from this incident. Well here is some damage of going into the puddle with a lowered car with a little speed. The bumper tab are broken, grill and lip fell off, fogs wires broke, water In the headlights and messed up wheel liner.

Ouch. This happened to my dad's car so I'm always wary of driving into any water over 6 inches deep. I refuse to take a chance.

If I were you, I'd pay my deductible and let the insurance company take care of this.
