I have had this problem on my 2008 IS250, but it was actually worse then what I have on my new 2006 IS350, which I thought was surprising.

Has anyone dealt with this problem before? The exterior window trim is peeling. I have thought about a couple of solutions.

1) glue back down the pieces using some sort of adhesive, Superglue?

2) remove all of the black around the entire car, and polishing to a silver. The problem about this technique would be the black that is left on the rear doors that is a lot larger...

3) remove all of the black around the car, and paint it using the pearl obsidian black technique, Once again the back door issues.

Hopefully others have this issue and will post some solutions/pictures. At least I don't have a melting dash!

I had this issue, I ended up replacing the trim with a used one that I got off of a totalled car.

Yeah, very common issue actually; some replace the trim itself, some paint or Plastidip over it.

I had the same problem. I plastidipped mine with 3 coats of black and 3 coats of the glossifier. It looks really good but now I have decided to vinyl wrap it. Vinyl wrap is so easier than plastidipping. I have only done one of the windows with the vinyl(back window). I am using 3M wrap, gloss black. This stuff is so easy, it bends, stretches and you can remove it and reuse. With plastidip you have to mask off, spray then wait, spray then wait and so on. Just my opinion. Oh yeah, I cut all the black stuff hanging loose like you show in your picture.

i have similar issues on mine. the plastic on the cowl is fading and the trim on the windshield pillars is discolored as well. OP, try to glue it back as carefully as you can. if you are satisfied with how it turns out and it doesn't bother you then leave it be. otherwise, you can plasti-dip or replace the trim afterwards

The vinyl can always be a good idea, I don't think I can wrap it around the edges, so that may bother me.

I am probably going to try and glue it and see how it turns out... worse case scenario I end up painting them. Then if that gets really bad, then I will replace them... I will have to go out and take another look at the rear door and see what is up with the "Large" Section... I wonder if it is metal behind the black or if it is a solid piece of rubber/plastic

I haven't looked at the prices, but if there are anything like my other car, I am thinking about 200-300 for the entire set (4)... which I don't want to pay... :P

If anyone was wondering the painting technique I was mentioning, here it is... I plan on doing my decals like this, and this might compliment it on the White.

Just slide it off, at least that's what I did so that I wouldn't break any clips.
