Default 60k service no spark plug change?

Just passed a little over 60k on my 2007 is350 and called McGrath Lexus of Chicago and asked how much the 60k service would be, he said $495, and I asked if that includes spark plugs and he said no that I don't need to change spark plugs for my model and year at 60k??? Only filters and fluids... Should I avoid this dealer?

Compare what he said to the owners manual. Maybe they like to split the services so they can make more $$$. You can also ask specifically for the things that you want a la carte style to save money. You can also bring your own parts bought from Sewell and bring it in.

clearly that service advisor has no idea what hes talking about. $500 for a oil change and fluids is overkill even for dealer pricing. Now if that includes spark plugs that is a deal!

The price is not what concerns me, what concerns me is that he ssid I don't need to change the spark plugs at 60k miles, when clearly that is a part of the service no?

I think you said in a previous post that your IS350 still needs the cam gear recall done. You should ask the service manager if they can swap out your old plugs for new ones while the recall is being done. The dealership may charge you a small labor fee but it's a lot better than paying the usual amount.

Iridium spark plugs should last 120K miles. The 60K replacement is recommended not necessary unless someone can enlighten me as to why IS's NEED new spark plugs at 60K?

Spark plug change interval was 120,000 miles through 2007. Starting in the 2008 model year it was changed to 60,000 miles. I believe this was a EPA technicality that we all end up paying through the nose for. McGrath are usually pretty competitive, price wise (compared to here in NC) - my son takes his IS250 there and always comments how much less he pays than I pay. Here in NC you would pay over $1000 for the 60,000 mile service, including plugs.

I'm in NC and about to hit 60k. $1000, you gotta be kidding. I'm pretty sure you can perform most of the maintenance yourself and save.

Go to a Toyota dealership for your oil/fluid changes and there are a few youtube videos on how to change your spark plugs. Pay yourself the $500 in labor to change your own spark plugs..if you can unscrew a light bulb chances are you can unscrew a spark plug..or drive up to VA Beach and pay me the $500 and ill do it for you

If you can turn a wrench, you can install the spark plugs in a 350. If you don't have the right tools, then purchase them with the $$$ you would have spent on labor somewhere else and you get to keep them forever! Remove the coil packs with what I believe to a 10mm bolt holding them down, pop the coil pack out, remove the spark plug, and install new plug (should be pre-gapped too!), and reinstall the coil pack. Do one cylinder at a time so you don't miss something. '

Honestly a 30 mintue job with the right tools.

For safety reason and not having a stalled car, you better change the spark plugs at 60k miles interval. Luckily in Southern CA, I can buy the plugs from Sewell and then let Tommy@MusicBox change it for only $80 which is way cheaper than the dealership which charge the hundreds if not thousands.

Not so, my 2006 Maintenance Schedule shows a change of plugs at 60,000 mi. I believe it has always been 60k for plug change for the 2GIS.
