Default Volt HIDS and other Headlight questions

2006 IS 250 Owner here, I currently have a stock halogen setup.

Ok, so I am purchasing an HID kid and some LED's for my car this month for a birthday present to myself, and wanted to know a few things:

1. First off, does anyone here have the Volt kit listed in this link?
http://www.kbcarstuff.com/H11-HID-Ki...neBy_1434=7346

I love the price, and will get these if they are decent, otherwise i guess I will splurg and get the phillips kit.

2. I wanted to make my headlight setup somewhat uniform in color, and was wanting to get LED's for my parking lights. I was looking at these:
http://www.kbcarstuff.com/194-T10-16...neBy_1434=7346

to someone who has installed these, which ones should I get, and is it just plug and play?
I have heard some people saying that their LEDS flicker, but the rep on the phone stated that will not happen with the parking lights.

3. I am wanting an HID look, but I dont want it to be blue. will 5k show up as the true HID look, or should I go 6k and get that slight hint of blue?

4. Any tips for me that I am looking over on my purchases? I will be DIY the project to replace the parking and Low beams. I will eventually get the fogs, but that might not be for another few months. Hopefully it will not look too funky with halogen fogs and hid headlights.

1. I have the 3000k Volt Kit as for my fog lights for like 3 weeks now and they are pretty bright and good looking.

2. Get the 360 or high power one for the brightness. I remember that you also need to buy another thing ("delay hardness"?? i forgot the name) to prevent them from flickering.

3. 4300K is OEM color (brightest), 5k is white (brighter), 6k is white (bright) with little blue, 8k is mix of blue/white 50/50 (dim). I would suggest 6k because 5k still has little yellow in it.

4. I think you should complete the whole set up all at once including the fogs to have a complete look. Trust me, the fog on HIDs look awesome. I have both 8000k on one car and 3000k on another. I prefer the 3000k more because it not only give you the good look with a greent tint in it, it also function better in the rain or foggy condition for visibility purpose.

isnt 3000k yellow??

also, i was asking the rep about the delay harness, but he stated that as long as its being plugged to the parking lights, it will NOT flicker. Can someone else confirm that it will flicker, and i will call bs on what i was told, lol

I am leaning towards 6k, I just hope they dont come out really blue. If I were to do 6k on the top, shouldnt I do 6k on the bottom for a uniform look?

thanks!

and shoot, your right, i might as well do it all at once. which means i will be wanting to get some new fogs and hi beams as well. any recommendations on which hi beams to get?

the volt kits are great. i have them in my fogs and love them so far and have had no issues.

as far as the led's, i bought a set from ijdmtoy and have also been satisfied with those.

i think you'll be happy with 6000k. pure white light with a tint of blue.

If you do 6k, go 6k all around. 6k has little blue but still super white and match LEDs pretty good. I have 8K all around and i like the blue color. 6k is brighter though. I might do 6K all around when my bulbs die for the brightness.

If you put the LED in the "parking light", it will not flicker so he is right. However, this only turns on when you park. Day Time Running Light on older IS (which i guess what you are looking to replace) is actually the HIGH BEAM light running at 30% power and you need the delay harness for that.

Remember: there are "Parking light" (which are the little bulbs next to the high beam) and the day time running light. Hope this helps lol.

For halogen highbeam, I would recommend the philips one or the PIAA extreme white (these are expensive but made in Japan with great quality). No matter what, the day time running light will still be yellow because they are running at low power.

ok, so basically, if i did the parking light led, and fog and low beams hid, it would basically look like this, correct?

http://racingstyle.files.wordpress.c...n_img_0278.jpg

however, if i was in motion, there would still be that ugly orange/yellow light on in my headlights (DLR), and i would need a harness to take care of that?

Definitely get HID's for the fogs. I have the Xtreme Kit for my lows and fogs from Kbcarstuff and excellent quality.

Yes, correct. The DRL turns off when the low beams are on so you wouldn't see the orange/yellow light.

Yep, the picture is 6k all around with low and fog HID set up.

Yep, to get rid of the yellow DLR, you have 2 options below (these have nothing to do with LED parking light)
1. Turn it off completely by Lexus dealership. You can still keep the highbeam functionality though.
2. Get the LED + delay harness. You LOSE highbeam functionality.

nice! Looks great. You decided the LED route for your fogs and not HIDS.. why? It looks great, and probably plug n play with the stock setup?

LED fogs do not flicker. HIDs are brighter though. Go HID on fog for a complete look.

LEDs were cheaper and plug n play... they are bright enough for what I wanted so I did not even consider HIDs for fogs.

DRL's need a relay, fogs do not.
