Hey guys just got a 2007 IS350 loaded for my mother.


I hear a little ticking at idle from the engine, I think I remember hearing this on the old IS300s and a couple supras. Is this common and what causes it?

Sometimes embarrassing going through the drive thru with the sound hehe, since its amplified 10 fold.

I don't notice it on my car. May be i have to pay more attention to this. How does it sound? Is it "tick" 3 seconds "tick"???

I honestly don't know if its injectors, that sounds strange
sounds more like drivetrain noise

I think ive heard it on other lexus and Toyota vehicles though

Might be from the alternator. I am very curious about the sound you talk about, may be a video to show this. I never notice this in 2 years driving the IS lol.

It is the injectors. This is common with quite a few of the Toyota/Lexus models. My Tacoma made the same noise, and almost every Tacoma/4Runner owner would complain about it when I was in the dealership world.

Injectors or the mechanical fuel mechanism; either way, it is completely common.

Thought the same thing whn I got my is, it's common, our engines are quiet for the most part

Its a common "tick". I also was concerned for my 2006 IS350, so i went by the dealership last week and had a rep. start up a 2014 IS250 and you could hear it.

Normal, since the end of 2005 for high-tech engines. Love the sound. Very Lexus and very modern. This is the engine note of the future and Lexus had it first, along with Audi.
