I don't know if anyone actually looked at the page on eBay, but it's just a real blow off valve, not some fake sound-making device. It's a universal part and they just happened to use a photo of a random car (IS).

This thread is confusing.

What I don't understand is what air is it blowing out, from the intake? If that's the case every time you hear it you would be losing massive horsepower if I'm not mistaken

Are you asking what a blow-off valve is for on a turbocharged car? If so, it is so that when you are boosting and you close the throttle, all that air has somewhere to go other than blowing a pipe off or surging the turbocharger's compressor turbine. Most cars out there either have a blowoff valve or a bypass valve to dump the excess pressure either to the atmosphere or back to the air inlet piping. Only very low-pressure setups tended to ever use no valve.

This is a normal part that a turbocharged car would have, it's not ridiculous, though it does look quite cheap/poorly made.

you wouldnt hear anything on a NA car with a bov, because it wouldnt be functioning at all.

yeah i have to agree with Jeff this time. if you check the description all this is, is a universal ebay bov thats a copy of the greddy type rs. why they used a lexus in the picture is beyond me.

now as for everyone saying they want to know how it sounds, even though the IS is an NA car, definitely need to read about how cars work

No I understand that part, I'm just lost on how it would even work on a na car because there's no air to "blow off"

You must be trolling.

It wouldnt work because no excessive pressure surge is produced by a naturally aspirated engine. Blow off valves are applicable to boosted engines only.

It wouldn't do anything, it's not meant to be used on an N/A car.

im starting to think the same thing now. the concept is quite simple, NA cars dont produce the pressure a boosted car will so a BOV will not work. even on a boosted car, the bov isnt on the intake....
