3rd gen tail light conversion?
im doing alot of rear end body work with trunk, rear bumper, quarter panels,
i had this idea of possibly doing the 3rd gen light conversion
the shop can do it, i just dont know if it can flow or look stupid
the idea is im doing all this custom work, and i love the rear end look of the 3rd gen, it would make me feel like probably keeping the car much longer since i have the newer look of the 3rd gen. i duno guys. this can easily be the stupist thing anyone has done or it can be pulled off and be hella badass....
so YAY or NAY

It can be done but that is a ton of metal work. Since the new generation swoops downwards and ours swoop upwards their going to have to saw into the rear quarters and create an entirely new line, then patch the upward swoop left by ours. Not the hardest of jobs but it's a lot of metal to re-do. It could look awesome, but I'm not sure it would look awesome enough to warrant the price... Just my 2 cents though!

3rd gen tail lights look sick. it's something new and you're probably be the first to do this specific conversion. i'd say go for it if you have the money! they look similar as far as the shape of the body judging by the last 2 pics. so it's like you're basically buying the 3rd gen. third pic from the bottom (silver car) should give you an ideal look of what it would look like if you did the conversion. in all honest truth, I would ditch the 2nd gen and get a 3rd gen if you like the tails that much.

I think this would look very unique. The lines in the 3IS that the rear tail-lights make flow together into the bumper, and rear-quarter Where as in the 2IS the line would then be interrupted by the straight, yet angled line from where the bumper and rear-quarter meet (last pic). I would tell you to save your money!

thanks for the suggestions guys. the money isnt the issue. my car was hit in the quarte panel/ rear bumper by someone else, i got paid to have it repaired, so might as well take advantage and pay some on top for some cool body work.
so lets not bring the money factor into this.
i will have a full wald kit, molded wald spoile + raised quartersr, custom fented venders
just want to know if you guys think this will flow or not

i vote no...the 3is tails wouldn't flow at all with the body lines on the rear of the 2is. the 3is basically line up the rear bumper whereas the the 2is lights just rest in the rear quarters...
