Swapped mines out today using this diagram, you saved me an $1000 bill at lexus vs. the less than $300 I spent to do it myself. Hats off to you.

Wink Thanks!

Yesterday I got a quote from Lexus that said I needed a new water pump because it was going out. Price $989.70. Today I did that job myself with your DIY info for less than $200 including the tools I didn't have. I get to keep the tools!

Thanks a lot for this I just finished mine now and this thread helped a lot.
Would have managed it without this but made it a lot easier than to figure it out your self for the first time.

This is a awesome forum

Default Any help with water pump on 08 ES350

Folks,

I am new to this forum, so please bear with me. My 08 ES350 started making squeaking noise. The dealer diagnosed to replace water pump, tensioner and idlers for $1600. I really liked this post from Serifiyah about 07 IS 250 and tried to work on mine. After getting all the parts online, I found that mine is a lot different in parts placement. I could not even reach the water pump. Just replaced belt and idler only. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

That's way over priced. Anywhere from $600-800, call Toyota(cheaper) cause they have the same engine in their vans. It is possible to do it yourself but a pain in the ****. Average is 5 hrs, but can be 11hrs if the tech doesn't know what their doing. The engine needs to be lifted(engine mounts need to come out) to have enough clearance to get to the bolts. Yes this is a must. I found info for you, hope this helps! Look at post reply #9;
Don't be discouraged you can do this yourself.

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I've tried to take out all apart almost as per the the linked instructions you sent me except the 1b and 4b(Remove water inlet housing).I did not drain the coolant yet cuz I wasn't sure if I could do the whole job myself. But I could not take out lower Aluminum bracket for the engine mount(2 parts of it, upper is easy which is connected to "dog bone" )after unscrewing the bolts. The bolts are so long and there is no room for them to come out. Not sure if I'm missing

Going to have at this tonight. Did the alternator a few months back (thanks to this forum) so I don't see this being a problem. Bought a new thermostat to put in while I have all the coolant out and the whole thing taken apart. Thanks to the OP for the write up it should help greatly.

Thanks for the DIY! Just did this today and took me about 3-4 hours. Replaced the thermostat and upper/lower radiator hose as well while I was in there.

A big thank you to the OP for writing up this DIY. I just finished replacing my water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt. It took about 3 hours start to finish.
For those who are on the bench about replacing it, it's certainly not a horribly difficult job and it didn't take any special tools at all.

I'm quite surprised at how bad my pump bearing was. I could rock the pulley shaft a good 1/8" or more easily. And when I spun it you could definitely hear it was bad.

Now the engine is back to being nice and quiet again.

Hopefully this Aisin pump will last longer than 67,000 miles.
